How To Be The Cool Kid

Let’s all be honest here, everyone wants to be ‘The Cool Kid’. Either in school, college or the society or any other place. I can help you be ‘The Cool Kid’, but before that, ask yourself do you really want to be ‘The Cool Kid’. If not; then stop reading. If yes; then go ahead and take over the world.

Step 1: Being ‘The Cool Kid’ or ‘The Pops Kid’ [Popular] is easy or hard, depending on how you take it. Most people don’t know what they’re aiming at when they say they want to be cool. Yeah, you want to be ‘cool’ but what kind of cool? Like everything else, even ‘Being Cool’ has a category. The ‘Good Looking Cool’ or the ‘Sports/Jock Cool’ or the ‘Know-it-all Cool’. First, decide what kind of cool you want to be.

Step 2: If you want my suggestion (of course you do, or you wouldn’t be here), be the type of cool you’re comfortable with. If you like or are good at sports, then be the ‘Sports Cool’. See what you’re good at or what you like. Perhaps something that means a lot to you but you might not be good at it? Yeah, I know you can relate, that’s the major problem these days. What do you do then? Follow the third step.

Step 3: Be good at it. Be good at whatever you’re not good at. The first step to being good at something is NOT to practice. The very first step to being good at something is believing that you’re good at it. Making your mind up. Telling yourself that you’re good and that is why you’re trying it. Believing that you can do it. Don’t back down because someone else does it better. If everybody stopped trying because someone else was better then there wouldn’t be a question of Ronaldo or Messi, Federer or Nadal. Or whatever the comparisons.

Step 4: After believing that you can do it, be good at it. After making yourself believe that you’re good at it, it is time to practice. You can't NOT do something, everyone can do everything. It's just our mindset and our determination. Practice; work day and night, give it your all. It could be sports, music, art or just plain studying. It could be anything. Practice makes man perfect, remember?

Step5: After all that practice, of course, you’ll be good at what you’re doing. You might not be the best at what you’re doing but that isn’t what we’re focusing on. We’re focusing on you doing something that you always wanted to but never had the guts to do. And you did it. Step 5 is for you to realize what you did and to appreciate yourself.

Step 6: The last step is to know that you don’t NEED to be cool. You can be cool by BELIEVING you’re cool. You don’t need others to make you feel that you’re cool. You don’t need a flock of girls around you to make you feel like a good football player. You don’t need a bunch of guys to ask you out to make you feel confident.

Whatever it is that you want to be cool at, you can be. But don’t do it to be popular or for others to notice you. Do it for yourself. Do it because you’ve always wanted to do it. Do it for you.

And then, it IS you.

The new 'Cool Kid' in town.
